Changing out the needle plate could not be easier on the Skyline S7AE. Simply remove the extension table, raise the needle and presser foot, push down the needle plate release lever, swap the needle plate out for the new one, lock it into place, and you are ready to sew.

One-Touch Buttons
Equipped with convenient one-touch buttons, the Skyline S7 allows you to switch tasks smoothly. You will find the following options along the front of the machine: start/stop, reverse, auto-lock, needle up/down, thread cutter, and speed control slider. With these buttons, you can raise or lower the needle, prevent your stitches from coming undone, trim threads, and set the speed control slider to low, medium, or high for precise sewing at comfortable speeds.

Stitch Composer Program
The Janome Stitch Composer software allows you to create your own unique sewing stitches right on your computer screen. Once the stitches have been created, they are exported with a USB stick to be sewn out on the Skyline S7. The stitches are easy to make using intuitive software and can be built from imported images, or you can let your imagination run wild and create stitches from scratch. The Stitch Composer software is included with the S7 and enables you to create unique original stitches or modify existing ones.

Pivot Function
When sewing circles or corners, changing directions smoothly is a must. When the pivot function is being used, the machine will stop with the needle lowered (in the fabric), and the presser foot is automatically raised to an appropriate height. Foot height can be modified in the settings. This function is useful for stopping the machine to rotate the fabric.

Variable Zig Zag
Variable zigzag enables precision control over the stitch width via the knee lift! Begin with a straight stitch, then while the machine is still running, press against the knee lifter to widen your stitch to a 9mm zigzag. Release pressure to gradually return to a straight stitch for a tapered finish. Don't want a 9mm stitch? You can easily control the maximum width of the stitch setting in the machine's set mode. This advanced control opens up amazing new possibilities for creative expression with free motion quilting, thread painting, raw edge appliqué, free motion monogramming, and more.

Use the foot pressure dial settings to reduce or increase the foot pressure according to the type of material; lightweight and stretchy fabrics require more pressure, while heavier fabric requires less. Manual thread tension adjustment may be required when the stitch width exceeds "7.0".
